IRELAND

The area of the North Mayo coast follows a hugely expansive and scoured landscape, stunningly beautiful, and larger in feeling somehow even than the area around the North Cornish coast. Its drama lying more in its length than its height - a panoramic coastline.

I felt I found in Benaderreen aspects which were in some way representational of the whole of that singular, weathered landscape – the triangular shapes of the fields interlocking with each other over the headlands and the geological formations of the cliffs echoed by the lyrical lines of white foam running along their base. The colours are certainly most specific to the area: the gold-greens, pinks, blacks, greys and ever-present rich blues of the sea.
